We are called to walk as Jesus walked, as servants in his kingdom and in the glory thereof (v. 1 cf. I Th. 2:12). Love bears with others in “all lowliness and gentleness, with long-suffering.” (v. 2) This includes “endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (v. 3) This is a covenantal association. “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling.” (v. 4) There is a core to the biblical faith that transcends denominational, ethnic, national or any other human boundaries, for we have “one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” The tapestry that makes up the international body of Christ only highlights that beauty which unites us in Him forever.
