Eph. 1:13-14

Trust, an aspect of faith, is founded not on emotion or intuition, but on the “word of truth,” the gospel of our salvation. Predestined to believe, we have been “sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.” The word ‘promise’ denotes that the gospel is based upon the word and will of God alone. The Holy Spirit is not an ‘it’, but is a person whose presence in us is a seal guaranteeing the full inheritance to follow, “until the redemption of the purchased possession.” We are his purchased position, waiting for the fullness of redemption with new bodies, but with him forever, in a unique way when we pass from this life, “to the praise of His glory.” Through scripture this is the constant refrain of what is our chief end, to glorify Him, and fully to enjoy Him forever.
