Mark 1:9-11 The Baptism Of Jesus.
Jesus was also baptized by John as an example for others, but that which accompanied it shows that it was unique. As though to counter the thought that one might have, that Jesus needed this symbol of repentance, the decent of the Spirit and the words of the Father, are testimonials that for Jesus it was repentance was not required. With the Son the Father was well pleased. It is also clear that this baptism was a consecration of sorts, indeed an anointing by the Spirit and water, that he was now commissioned by the Father for his upcoming office and work (Mt. 3:13-17; 12:18-21[Is. 42:1-4]; Acts 10:38).
