Isaiah 35 The Future Glory Of Zion.
All creation will rejoice with the blessings of the remnant of the covenant (v. 1 Cf. 55:12). It will be an outpouring of the Spirit (32:15). There will be joy and singing. The surrounding nations will “see the glory of the LORD, the excellency of our God” (v. 2 Cf. 40:5). The weak and feeble would be strengthened (v. 3 Cf. Job 4:3-4; Ps. 145:19; Heb. 12:12). The fearful-hearted would be made strong-vengeance and recompense will come upon the nations and apostate Israel on behalf of the faithful remnant (v. 4 Cf. 33:22; 34:8). The blind will see, the deaf will hear, and the dumb will sing (v. 5 Cf. Is. 29:18-19; 32:4; Mt. 9:27-32; 11:5; 12:22; 15:30; Jn. 5:8-9; 9:6-7). The formerly parched earth will flourish (vv. 6-7 Cf. 41:18; 51:3; Jn. 7:38). The remnant would return on a highway of holiness, the unclean will be cast off, but the fool would not go astray, and all creation will be at peace (vv. 8-9 Cf. 11:7-9; 52:1; Ezek. 34:25; Joel 3:17; Mt. 7:13-14; I Pet. 1:15-16; Rev. 21:27). This is a covenantal blessing (Lev. 26:6). The remnant would walk this way of holiness only because they are redeemed, “the ransomed of the LORD” (v. 10a Cf. 51:11). Those coming to this Zion will be singing with joy and gladness, “and sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (v. 10b Cf. 25:8; 30:19; 65:19; 7:17; 21:4).
