Micah

Micah 4:6-13 Zion’s Future Triumph.

“In that day,” including Micah’s a near future, and in the “the latter days,” “the lame, the outcast,” and those whom the LORD “afflicted” (v. 6 Cf. Ps. 147:2; Ezek. 34:16), will comprise a remnant who will become “a strong nation,” “so the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion from now on, even forever” (v. 7 Cf. 2:12; Is. 9:6-7; 24:23; Lk. 1:33; Rev. 11:15). Dominion shall be restored from Zion (v. 8). However, before this happened, they would suffer exile to Babylon (vv. 9-10; 5:1 Cf. 7:8-12; II Chron. 36:20; Ezra 1:1-3; 2:1; Ps. 18:17; Is. 13:8; 45:13; Jer. 8:19; 30:6; Amos 5:27). It is in Babylon that their near future deliverance would come. The surrounding nations wanted to gloat (v. 11 Cf. Lam. 2:16; Ob. 12), but they would be ignorant of the LORD’s thoughts and counsel, “for He will gather them like sheaves to the threshing floor” (v. 12 Cf. Is. 21:10-11; 55:8-9), and the LORD’s people would be instrumental in threshing them (v. 13).
