Jonah 2 Jonah Repents And Prays.
Jonah acknowledged that he had run from the LORD, but also that the LORD answered his prayer and delivered him (vv. 1-3). Though he had been cast into the deep, he was now determined to look to the house of the LORD (vv. 4-6). From the moorings of the mountains (the depths of the sea), he looked to the LORD’s house, which was the holy temple in heaven, where his prayer had entered (v. 7). Others looked to their idols, like the mariners of the previous chapter, but he would look to the LORD’s mercy for salvation, with thanksgiving (vv. 8-9). “So the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land” (v. 10).
