Jonah 3 Nineveh Believes And Repents.
Jonah, having been vomited up to dry land, then receives his message for Nineveh-judgment in forty days (vv. 1-4). However, the people actually believed what Jonah was saying, so they fasted, prayed, and repented, including the king, who received a personal word from God (vv. 5-6). He then essentially made the behaviour of the people the law, in the hope God would relent. “Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it” (v. 10). They showed their faith and repentance by their works.
