Acts 13:26-35 Resurrection-The Hope Of Eternal Life.
Paul again addresses both Jews and God fearing Gentiles, telling them that the gospel, the word of salvation has been sent to them both (v. 26 Cf. Ps. 66:16). The apostate Jewish leadership, and those who followed them, were opposed to this message because “they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the Prophets” (v. 27). However, in condemning Jesus, without any grounds, they were in fact fulfilling the prophetic word (vv. 28-29 Cf. Mt. 27:22-25; 57-61; Lk. 18:31). “But God raised Him from the dead” (v. 30 Cf. Mt. 12:39; 28:6). Many witnessed His resurrection (v. 31 Cf. Acts 1:3, 11). This hope of eternal life was a promise made to the Fathers which they were seeing fulfilled in Jesus, an eternal covenant (vv. 32-35 Cf. Ps. 2:7; 16:10; Is. 55:3). In addition, Paul made a point of referring to several scriptural witness, because “at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established” (II Cor. 13:1; Dt. 17:6; 19:15).
