The Psalms

Psalm 119:97-104 Mem: Sweeter Than Honey.

Those who love the law of the LORD and meditate on it will always be wiser than those who lean on their own understanding, even beyond the ancient writers (vv. 97, 99-100). Also, anyone who loves the word of the LORD will always have enemies (v. 98). Part of the reason for this is because those who love the law will restrain themselves from the evil, and “hate every false way,” that many delight in (vv. 101, 103). It is never about anyone arriving at this knowledge by themselves-it is about being taught by the LORD (v. 102). This is the chief contrast. To the children of the covenant LORD, the law is not burdensome, rather it is “sweeter than honey.” (v. 103)
